WASHINGTON, D.C. – General Michael Langley, the head of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), has reported a dramatic rise in terrorist activities across Africa over the past fifteen years.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the percentage of global terrorists operating within Africa has escalated significantly.

The statistics shared by General Langley during an interview with Fox News reveal that terrorists in Africa constituted only 4% of the global total in 2008, but this number has surged to 40% by 2024. This increase highlights a concerning trend in the region’s security landscape, prompting continued vigilance and strategic responses from international security forces.

General Langley’s comments emphasize the growing challenges and the need for sustained efforts in counterterrorism operations across the continent, reflecting AFRICOM’s commitment to addressing these complex security issues.
