Perth: The ongoing exhibition of China’s renowned Terracotta Warriors at the Western Australian (WA) Museum aims to deepen Australians’ understanding of Chinese culture, as stated by the museum’s chief executive officer Alec Coles.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the exhibition, titled “Terracotta Warriors: Legacy of the First Emperor,” officially opened to the public on Saturday at the WA Museum Boola Bardip. Coles expressed his hope that the exhibition will help Australians, particularly those in Western Australia, gain a better understanding of Chinese history and culture.

The exhibition, which will run for eight months, showcases over 100 ancient Chinese artefacts, many of which are being displayed outside of China for the first time. Coles, who has been the museum’s CEO since 2010, first envisioned the exhibition in 2016, and it materialized after years of collaboration with partners in China’s Shaanxi Province.

As the largest museum exhibition in WA in recent years, it is expected to attract around 180,000 visitors. Coles highlighted that multimedia digital technology is integrated into the exhibition to enrich the narrative of the Terracotta Warriors and showcase their impressive scale and artistry.

Coles remarked that the exhibition will serve as a significant tourist attraction, benefiting the tourist economy. He also expressed his hopes for the exhibition to initiate a long-term partnership, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchanges in fostering international relations.
