Embu, Kenya – Jubilation erupted at Tenri Primary School in Embu as teachers and parents celebrated the school’s notable performance in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results. Christine Wanjiku Mwaniki led the school with 405 marks, slightly lower than the previous year’s top score of 413 marks but still a commendable achievement considering the general nationwide drop in scores.
According to Kenya News Agency, James Kariuki, Tenri Primary School had 51 candidates sitting for the exams, comprising 27 boys and 24 girls. Despite the school’s satisfaction with the results, Kariuki expressed disappointment regarding the delay in the remittance and access of the results, which caused anxiety among stakeholders. “We would have expected this being the last KCPE that things would have gone smoothly. I think that delay has been the lowest moment of this year’s exams,” he stated.
Other schools in the region also recorded good results. Bonanza School’s top student, Abraham Baraza Wekesa, scored 402 marks, while Grace Njoki Mungai from Lions School secured 394 marks. Martin Waweru, the Headteacher at Bonanza, expressed his contentment with the results, noting that they had high expectations for Baraza due to his consistent academic performance.
