Tenkodogo: The Silmiougou Citizen Watch Group Donates Equipment Worth 375,000 CFA Francs to the Faso Mebo Initiative

Tenkodogo: The citizen watch group of Silmiougou, a town located about twenty kilometers from Tenkodogo, donated equipment on Saturday, including two tons of cement, twenty shovels, and gloves, valued at 375,000 CFA francs, to support the beautification efforts in the town of Tenkodogo as part of the presidential Faso Mebo initiative. The ceremony took place at the Faso Mebo brigade headquarters in Sector 6, in the presence of members of the citizen watch group and several officials.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the citizen watch group, Nouffou Sorgho, explained that this gesture resulted from the collective mobilization of the inhabitants of Silmiougou, their diaspora, and the young people working in gold mining. “We are in Tenkodogo this morning to respond to the call of the President of the Republic through the Faso Mebo initiative. Thanks to our unity and solidarity, we were able to gather this donation to contribute to the beautification of our regional capital,” he said.

He recalled that the Silmiougou community has remained committed for several years to actions of mutual aid, social cohesion, and support for local development.

Upon receiving the equipment, Lieutenant Abdoul Fatah Sawadogo expressed his gratitude to the donors, praising “a patriotic and responsible act” which is fully in line with the dynamic of citizen participation encouraged by the Faso Mebo initiative. He also invited other communities in the Nakambe region to draw inspiration from this example to contribute, each at their own level, to improving the living environment and enhancing public spaces.

This gesture by the citizen watch of Silmiougou illustrates the importance of community engagement and reminds us that local development is based first and foremost on solidarity, citizen participation, and a sense of duty towards the community.
