Tenkodogo: The second edition of the Tenkodogo Open lived up to all expectations, with strong participation from judo stakeholders and a significantly improved level of competition. In the team final, Bobo Dioulasso emerged victorious over USFA, while AS Douane completed the podium.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Open was organised by the Esp©rance Judo Club of Tenkodogo and brought together several clubs from different localities, confirming the growing interest in this discipline. The competitions included categories ranging from under-15s to seniors, both individual and team events.
At the end of the matches, the Bobo team secured first place in the team event, followed by USFA in second place and AS Douane in third. The highly competitive individual competitions revealed promising young talents.
Held under the patronage of the High Commissioner of the Boulgou province, represented by the Secretary General of the province Lall© Siaka dit YAO, the event also benefited from the sponsorship of the Regional Director of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Nakamb©.
The various presentations highlighted the educational role of judo. The event’s sponsor, Cl©ment Dabon©, praised the initiative and emphasized that “judo goes beyond sport” by helping to develop disciplined and dedicated young people. He encouraged the competitors, stressing that “reaching the final is already a victory,” as it reflects their commitment and determination.
Representing the High Commissioner, Lall© Siaka dit YAO welcomed the participants to the city of Tenkodogo, emphasizing the importance the authorities place on this sport. He congratulated the organizers and encouraged the athletes to give their best.
For his part, the National Technical Director of the Burkina Faso Judo Federation, Master Augustin Sye Palm, expressed his satisfaction with the organization and the turnout. He noted a significant increase in participation compared to the previous edition, demonstrating the growing enthusiasm for judo. He encouraged the athletes to seize this opportunity to showcase their skills and improve.
This second edition of the Tenkodogo Open has established itself as a major sporting event in the Nakamb© region. Beyond the competition, it contributes to promoting the values of discipline, respect, and social cohesion, while also showcasing emerging Burkinab¨ judo talent.
