Ten New Ambassadors Strengthen Diplomatic Ties with Burkina Faso


Ouagadougou – In a significant diplomatic event, President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, welcomed ten new ambassadors who presented their letters of credence, marking a robust phase in Burkina Faso’s international relations.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony held this Friday morning saw the participation of ambassadors from various countries, affirming Burkina Faso’s active engagement on the global stage. The first to present his credentials was Mr. Dietrich Becker, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. Mr. Becker, who previously served in Mali and Iceland, is now stationed in Ouagadougou.



Following Mr. Becker, the Russian Ambassador, Mr. Igor Martynov, presented his credentials. Prior to his new role in Burkina Faso, Mr. Martynov was a chief advisor in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on the Middle East and North Africa.



The United States Ambassador, Madame Joann Marie Lockard, also took part in the ceremony. Madame Lockard, a seasoned diplomat within the U.S. administration, has taken up residence in Ouagadougou to advance U.S.-Burkina Faso relations.



Other diplomats included Mrs. Selma Mansouri of Algeria, who had served at Algeria’s permanent mission to the United Nations in New York; Mr. Elio Francisco Colmenares Goyo of Venezuela, based in Bamako, Mali; and Mr. Christophe Bazivamo of Rwanda, an agricultural engineer with residence in Abuja, Nigeria.



Additionally, Mr. Antonio Guillen Hidalgo of Spain, Mr. Armando Albino Arafa of Guinea-Bissau, Mr. Barthelemy Zdaniuk of Poland, and Mr. Anjum Enayat of Pakistan presented their credentials. These ambassadors, stationed in various regional capitals like Dakar and Tripoli, underscore the diverse and strategic diplomatic engagement Burkina Faso is cultivating.
