Windhoek: Telecom Namibia (TN) has announced the induction of its new board of directors, set to guide the company from 03 June 2026 until 02 June 2029. This announcement marks a significant step as TN embarks on an ambitious transformation programme.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the newly appointed board is headed by Fimanekeni Petrus as Chairperson, with Melanie Tjijenda as Deputy Chair. The board also includes members Henock Immanuel, Maria Haipinge, Marvin Awarab, and Hasting Tjipueja. TN's statement, released on its website, highlights the board's entry as pivotal to the company's ongoing efforts in network modernisation, operational performance enhancement, and digital infrastructure development.
In his remarks on the occasion, Petrus emphasized the board's commitment to enhancing governance and executing TN's strategic vision. He acknowledged the groundwork laid by the previous board and expressed a commitment to ensuring that TN continues to deliver sustainable value to its stakeholders.
Stanley Shanapinda, TN's Chief Executive Officer, who will be transitioning to the role of Executive Secretary of the Communications Regulators' Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) on 01 July 2026, welcomed the new board. He noted that their leadership comes at a critical juncture in TN's transformation journey and expressed confidence in their ability to provide necessary strategic direction.
As part of its new mandate, the board will commence the search for a new CEO, with the appointment anticipated to be effective from 01 July 2026. Shanapinda will collaborate with the board to ensure a smooth transition in leadership, as the company aims to build on its strategic objectives.
