TEHRAN - Burkina Faso's Ambassador to Iran, Mohamadi Kaboré, met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raïssi in Tehran to present his credentials and discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, during the credential presentation, President Raïssi expressed Iran's interest in expanding its cooperation with African countries, particularly Burkina Faso. The IRNA Agency reported that the Iranian President declared his country's readiness to enhance collaboration in various fields, including political, diplomatic, economic, commercial, and cultural sectors. This sentiment was reiterated by the communications department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso.
Ambassador Kaboré, on his part, conveyed Burkina Faso's intention to continue and deepen its ties with Iran. He expressed optimism about making positive strides in this regard during his tenure in Tehran, as per the IRNA report. Additionally, Kaboré sought Iran's support for Burkina Faso's ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, a request that was acknowledged by the Iranian President.
This meeting marks a continuation of the growing bilateral relationship between Burkina Faso and Iran, which has seen significant progress since the first joint cooperation session in 2010. The relations have notably intensified following President Ibrahim Traoré's rise to power in Ouagadougou and his commitment to forging mutually beneficial relationships.
