Koudougou: The governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean Yves Bere, presided this Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Maurice Yameogo National Vocational High School in Koudougou, over the official launch of the 2nd edition of the Student Recognition Week for Teachers (SRE).
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, placed under the sign of gratitude, aims to magnify the crucial role of educators in the process of rebuilding the Burkinabe state. The activities commenced with a solemn raising of the national colors at precisely 7:00 a.m. For the occasion, the region's constituted bodies, administrative authorities, and students proudly displayed local attire, notably the Koko donda and Faso danfani, symbolizing a strong return to the identity roots advocated by the "Popular Progressive Revolution."
In his address, Governor Adama Jean Yves Bere emphasized that this week, established by the government, is part of a vision to restore the core values of the Burkinab¨ people. He highlighted that gratitude is an essential moral and spiritual virtue that nourishes the heart and uplifts the soul, adding that this celebration is an act of social justice towards those who dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to shaping the character of the youth.
The region's top official paid a heartfelt tribute to teachers, whom he described as guardians of knowledge and enlightened guides. He stressed that teachers not only transmit knowledge but also embody the values of rigor, tolerance, and patriotism, which are essential for building a strong nation.
