Tatarstan Seeks New Investors Through International Forum in Kazan


Kazan: Tatarstan, an economic jewel of Russia, is looking for new investors. The Republic of Tatarstan, a major economic and industrial hub within the Russian Federation, is intensifying its efforts to attract new investments. This initiative includes hosting an international economic forum in its capital, Kazan, on May 14 and 15, 2026.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Tatarstan is a significant contributor to Russia’s industrial output, producing 41.2% of the nation’s rubber, 61.2% of its tires, 30.2% of its trucks, and 24% of its polyethylene. Talia Minoullina, the Minister in charge of Investments, highlighted these figures on Wednesday. She also emphasized the region’s dynamic manufacturing sector, which includes helicopters, airplanes, and boats.



The state, covering 68,000 km², is a leading producer of various agricultural products, including 3 million tonnes each of milk, potatoes, and vegetables, along with nearly 4 million tonnes of cereals. The Republic of Tatarstan is also advancing in high technology sectors.



Talia Minoullina introduced Innopolis, a city designed by the government, which is home to 7,890 residents, 70% of whom work in information and technology sectors with an average monthly salary of US$16,600. Innopolis also features a special economic zone with 9,821 jobs and 342 companies, attracting $2.3 billion in investments. The city boasts a university with 9 scientific centers, 18 laboratories, and 60 start-ups created by students, hosting 1,528 students from 31 countries.



Ms. Minoullina, who also leads the Tatarstan Investment and Development Agency, shared this information with 20 journalists from 10 African news agencies, invited by TASS. The 17th Kazan International Economic Forum aims to foster joint projects and promote mutual investments.



Islam plays a significant role in Tatarstan’s culture and will feature prominently at the forum. The event will include the “Russia-Islamic World” exhibition, the International Halal Market Fair, and the Modest Fashion Festival. Discussions will cover cooperation between Russia and Muslim countries, focusing on Islamic finance, the halal industry, logistics, trade, investment, technology, education, culture, sport, and tourism. Additionally, the event will host the annual Forum of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of OIC Member States.
