Tarfila Bridge Assembly Completed, Awaiting Access Embankment Construction

OUAGADOUGOU: The assembly of the emergency Tarfila bridge, a crucial infrastructure project in Burkina, has been completed, marking a significant milestone in the effort to restore transportation disrupted by recent heavy rains. However, the bridge will not open to traffic until the construction of the access embankment is finished in the coming days, according to officials.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the communication services of the ministry responsible for infrastructure announced the completion of the bridge assembly, emphasizing the critical role of the last 48 hours in achieving this progress. The Tarfila bridge had previously collapsed due to the severe rains that occurred on October 6, 7, and 8, 2024, highlighting the need for emergency reconstruction efforts.

The ministry’s communication services assured the public that efforts are underway to finalize the access embankment, which will pave the way for the official opening of the bridge to traffic. The restoration of the Tarfila bridg
e is expected to significantly ease transportation challenges posed by its collapse, thereby facilitating movement and commerce in the affected areas.
