Tapoa: Chief Superintendent Lucien OUANGO Appointed Head of the Provincial Police Directorate

Tapoa: The Provincial Directorate of the National Police of Tapoa is now placed under the authority of Chief Commissioner of Police Lucien OUANGO, installed in his functions on April 14, 2026, in Diapaga, by the Secretary General of the province of Tapoa, Martin ZOUNDI.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this handover, conducted in accordance with current administrative procedures, took place in the presence of several civil, military, and paramilitary authorities. The tributes paid to the outgoing director and the commitments to strengthening security were the highlights of the ceremony.

Officially installed after his appointment in the Council of Ministers on April 2, 2026, Lucien OUANGO replaces Bonaventure DEMBELE in this position, who was himself appointed regional director of the National Police of the East.

The new provincial director expressed his gratitude to his superiors and the highest authorities in the country for the trust placed in him. He also paid tribute to his predecessor, Chief Commissioner Bonaventure Dembele, for the achievements made despite the security situation in Tapoa. He congratulated him on the momentum generated in promoting the National Police in this part of Burkina Faso.

Chief Commissioner Ouango indicated that his actions would continue the efforts already undertaken to strengthen security and the protection of people and property. "I intend to continue the actions undertaken by my predecessor and to contribute to consolidating security in this province for the benefit of the people," he said.

He also announced his intention to foster a dynamic of collaboration between the population and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), believing that "it is together that we will overcome the challenges facing Burkina Faso". The new provincial director also appealed for the public's full cooperation, stressing that the fight against insecurity cannot be effective without their involvement. "The public are the eyes and ears of the police," he added.

He asked his officers and staff to demonstrate professionalism, rigor, and loyalty in order to successfully complete their mission in Tapoa Province. As a reminder, the former provincial director, Bonaventure Dembele, was appointed regional director of the National Police for the East on April 2, 2026.

For the Secretary General of the province, Martin ZOUNDI, this handover opens a new era in strengthening trust between the police and citizens, with a view to lasting peace and increased stability in Tapoa. The various authorities took the opportunity to wish the new director every success in carrying out his mission.
