Tannounyan Region Launches ‘Deme Sira’ Solidarity Campaign in Banfora

Banfora: The Tannounyan region officially launched its fundraising and donation campaign for the national solidarity initiative 'Deme Sira' in Banfora. The event witnessed a significant turnout of individuals demonstrating their commitment to the initiative.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the campaign, led by the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, calls for collective conscience, fraternity, and national unity. It aims to support those severely affected by the security, humanitarian, and socio-economic crises. The launch was officiated by the governor of the Tannounyan region, Patrice Yeye, who received a symbolic torch from the governor of Bankui, Babo Pierre Bassinga, signifying the ongoing national mobilization and commitment across all regions.

Governor Patrice Yeye highlighted the human aspect of the campaign, emphasizing that 'Deme Sira' is more than an initiative-it's a call to support fellow citizens in need. He stressed that the destiny of Burkina Faso relies on solidarity, sharing, and commitment from everyone. He praised the region's history of supporting vulnerable populations and urged for continued inclusive and generous mobilization.

The governor called on various social components, local authorities, state technical services, defense and security forces, economic operators, civil society organizations, women's and youth associations, and religious and customary leaders to engage fully in this solidarity effort. He described solidarity as the unifying value of fortified peoples and urged everyone to uphold the torch of national solidarity to ensure the success of Deme Sira in the region.

Commending the leadership of the Ministry of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, Governor Yeye acknowledged the coordination of regional stakeholders in implementing the campaign. He concluded by appealing to the media to serve as vital channels for informing the public, raising awareness, and fostering engagement.

The ceremony in Banfora marks the start of a deeply civic mobilization aimed at restoring dignity and hope to those in need. A fundraising and donation drive followed the event, initiating the citizen contribution to this extensive solidarity effort.
