Banfora: The Governor of the Tannounyan region, Patrice Yeye, shared a community meal with vulnerable people in Banfora this Thursday. This initiative is part of the "D¨m¨ Sira" (Solidarity) campaign, launched on November 19, 2025, in the Tannounyan region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, before this moment of communion, the Governor toured several centers that provide care and support for disadvantaged people and people with disabilities. Following these visits, the administrative authorities, led by the Governor, demonstrated their commitment and solidarity by sharing a communal meal with the vulnerable individuals.
For Mr. Yeye, this gesture goes far beyond a mere formality. This meal is highly symbolic. "It's a call we're making to all the sons and daughters of the region to embrace solidarity as a true way of life," he explained. He recalled that sharing has always been a powerful force for social cohesion among our ancestors, while also lamenting the rise of individualism in today's society.
According to him, it is to break with this drift that the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, deemed it necessary to initiate the "D¨m¨ Sira" campaign, which was launched in November 2025.
He urged the people of Tannounyan to cultivate solidarity and sharing. Those who have should give to those in need. This is how we will build a united Burkina Faso. We must leave no one behind; we must move forward together, he insisted, calling for national cohesion.
The Regional Director in charge of humanitarian action expressed her gratitude to the Governor and his delegation for this significant gesture. She emphasized the emotion and satisfaction felt by vulnerable individuals at seeing the authorities share a meal with them, in a spirit of equality and fraternity. She also commended the reception centers for their successful mobilization of vulnerable people around this community meal.
The Regional Director invited all people to contribute to the "D¨m¨ Sira" campaign, which continues until January 30, 2026, in order to strengthen solidarity and mutual aid within the Tannounyan region.
