Former Burkina Faso Education Minister Stanislas Ouaro Resigns from MPP Party, Citing Betrayal

Ouagadougou – Professor Stanislas Ouaro, the former Minister of Education, announced his resignation from the People’s Movement for Progress (MPP) party on Friday. This decision comes in the wake of what he described as betrayal and manipulation within the party.

According to Burkina Information Agency, addressed to the interim first vice-president of the MPP, Professor Ouaro expressed his departure from all positions within the former ruling party. He cited his experience of manipulation, lies, slander, betrayal, and abandonment as key reasons for his resignation. The incident that precipitated his decision was his arrest, along with about ten colleagues, on December 4, 2023, at the party’s national headquarters. Ouaro believes that there are “invisible hands” within the MPP responsible for his predicament.

Reflecting on his political journey, Professor Ouaro expressed disappointment with the nature of political life and conveyed his gratitude to the party’s president and honorary president, Simon Compaoré, for their support and consideration.
