CyberSOC Africa Establishes Kenyan Office to Offer Pan-African Cybersecurity Solutions

Nairobi — CyberSOC Africa, a Pan-African cybersecurity firm founded in Nigeria in 2015, has officially set up operations in Kenya. The move aims to provide comprehensive cybersecurity solutions across the African continent, with Kenya serving as the launch pad for the firm’s pan-African expansion.

According to a new release by Kenya News Agency, Communications and the Digital Economy, Principal Secretary John Tanui acknowledged the advancements Kenya has made in digital transformation. Tanui, however, raised concerns about the increasing cybersecurity threats that endanger both national security and the country’s digital initiatives. The remarks were read by Juma Modie, the department’s Assistant Director of ICT (Cybersecurity).

During the launch, CyberSOC Africa CEO Shai Nuni outlined the primary cyber threats facing the African continent, such as digital extortion, ransomware, and various online scams, including phishing and business email compromise. Nuni stressed the importance of establishing robust cybersecurity frameworks as digital infrastructure continues to be integrated into various sectors, including government, business, and banking. The CEO also announced that the Kenyan office would serve multiple East African countries, including Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Somalia.

Vice President of CyberSOC Africa, Jon Hamlet, elaborated on the services the firm would provide, including threat detection and response, threat intelligence, and security awareness training. He emphasized the necessity of adhering to updated cybersecurity regulations and standards.

CyberSOC Chairman Nir Kunik expressed the company’s commitment to aiding businesses and government agencies in defending against cyber threats. He noted that the Kenyan office would serve as the East African headquarters, focusing on cybersecurity awareness and education and providing essential resources to ensure safety from cyber-attacks.

Echoing similar concerns, Regional Sales Manager Brian Mang’oli underlined the urgent need for specialized cybersecurity solutions in Africa, considering the rising number of cyber threats and a global shortage of cybersecurity experts.
