Tabaski Festival and Galian 2024 Widely Commented on by Burkinabè Media

OUAGADOUGOU, This Tuesday's publications cover the Galian 2024 competition and the Tabaski 2024 festival, celebrated on Sunday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President Ibrahim Traoré, in a message published on his X account, wished Muslims a happy Tabaski holiday and invited the faithful to carry Burkina Faso in their prayers. The Bobolese daily, L'express du Faso, also highlighted President Traoré's message, stating, "IB invites the Muslim faithful to carry Burkina in prayer." The newspaper noted that Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who prayed at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, invited all Burkinabè people to fraternal communion, sharing, and solidarity to build peace together in Burkina Faso.

L'Observateur Paalga mentioned in its front page headline, "Tabaski 2024: Two sources of fitna, according to Imam Abdallah Ouédraogo." The newspaper detailed that the imam's sermon after the Tabaski prayer focused on behaviors that could undermine living together and peace in Burkina Faso, specifically hateful preaching and the rampant sale of land without proper procedures.

The private daily Le Pays reported, "The Burkinabè invited to join hands." The article highlighted that at the grand prayer held at Place de la Nation in Ouagadougou, government members, the Moogho Naaba Baongo, and other religious denominations joined the Muslim faithful in praying for the return of peace and called for unity and solidarity among Burkinabè.

Sidwaya also reflected on the prizes won by its reporters during the 27th Galian night, noting that six journalists from the state daily brought home awards in this edition of the Galian Prize competition.
