KOMBISSIRI – The Geneva-based ‘Rose des Sables’ association has provided essential food supplies to more than 200 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable residents of Kombissiri, in the Bazèga province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, president of the local partner Teeb Manegda association (ATM/Burkina Faso), this aid effort occurred on Monday and included the distribution of 3 tonnes of rice, oil, and salt to 43 households. The initiative was in response to a request to ‘Rose des Sables’ and represents the third such solidarity action by the Swiss association to support the community during ongoing security crises.
The food distribution event was overseen by Boukary Porgo, the president of the special delegation of Kombissiri, and Claudine Korbéogo, the provincial director in charge of national solidarity. They facilitated the official handover of the food supplies. The aid supports the sovereign efforts of the country’s authorities to ensure the well-being of its people, particularly those affected by insecurity and displacement.
Zinaba Jacques, representing the beneficiaries, expressed deep gratitude for the support, which included 2.5 bags of rice, a bottle of oil, and salt for each household. This gesture was also acknowledged by local officials who praised the ongoing commitment of ‘Rose des Sables’ and ATM/Burkina Faso to aiding vulnerable groups in the region.
