SWAPO Secures Commanding Victory in Otjiwarongo Constituency Elections

Otjiwarongo: The Electoral Commission of Namibia recently announced the final results of the 2025 Regional Councils elections for the Otjiwarongo Constituency and its local authority council in the Otjozondjupa Region. The elections concluded with the SWAPO party achieving significant victories in both the local authority and regional council elections.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the local authority election results saw SWAPO secure the highest number of votes with a total of 4,072. The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) followed with 1,022 votes, while the United Democratic Front (UDF) garnered 697 votes. Other parties, including the Landless People's Movement (LPM) and the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), received 603 and 548 votes, respectively. The total number of votes counted in the Otjiwarongo Local Authority was 7,440.

In the regional council election, SWAPO's Paulus Nekundi emerged as the winner, receiving 5,225 votes. Gideon Iiyambo of IPC came in second with 1,429 votes, followed by Traulich Kairua of LPM with 1,066 votes. Johannes Nauiseb of UDF received 976 votes. A total of 7,122 votes were counted in the regional council election, with 23 ballot papers rejected.
