Swapo Party Secures Majority in Gochas Local Authority Election

Gochas: The Electoral Commission of Namibia on Thursday announced the final results of the 2025 Local Authority Election for the Gochas Local Authority in the Hardap Region.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Swapo Party emerged as the leading party with 350 votes, followed by the Landless People's Movement (LPM) with 261 votes. The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) garnered 148 votes, while the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) received 42 votes.

A total of 801 votes were cast to fill five council seats under the proportional representation system. Both Swapo and LPM secured two seats each, while IPC obtained one seat. PDM did not manage to secure any seats in this election cycle.

This election result underscores the competitive political landscape within the Gochas Local Authority and highlights the varying levels of support for the participating political parties.
