OGONGO — During a mini rally in Epangu village, Omusati Region, Swapo Party Member of Parliament, Natangwe Iithete, called on the community of Ogongo to steadfastly support Swapo, emphasizing the party's pivotal role in Namibia’s past and future. The rally, which took place on Saturday, focused on rallying local support ahead of the presidential election on November 27, 2024.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Swapo's historical significance as the party that led Namibia to independence uniquely positions it to guide the nation towards prosperity. "Numerous opposition parties have come and gone without fulfilling their commitments to the nation's advancement. Let us help Swapo lead the Namibian people for the benefit of future generations," he stated, asserting that Swapo remains the only true advocate for the nation's welfare.
Highlighting the party's contributions, Iithete credited Swapo with bringing peace and liberation to Namibia, arguing that these achievements enable Namibians to live freely today. He criticized defectors who have founded new political movements, questioning their motives and accusing them of attempting to disrupt the system they were once part of. Iithete also promoted Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Swapo’s first female presidential candidate, urging attendees to support her in the upcoming election.
Additionally, Iithete extended an invitation to former party members who had left Swapo, encouraging them to return and join hands for the party’s future endeavors. Alweendo Leonhard Nangolo, the Ogongo district coordinator for Swapo, echoed Iithete’s sentiments, expressing readiness to lead the party towards the betterment of the Namibian people.
