Kavango East: The Swapo Party in the Kavango East Region convened its first Ordinary Regional Executive Committee meeting of the year on Friday, focusing on strategies for the upcoming Regional and Local Authority elections slated for later this year.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Regional Coordinator Ottilie Shinduvi addressed the gathering during the official opening, emphasizing the necessity of hard work and solidarity in the road ahead. Shinduvi urged the members to reinforce their commitment to the objectives outlined in the Swapo manifesto, ensuring that the party remains by the people and for the people.
Reflecting on last year’s electoral success, Shinduvi regarded it as a renewed mandate to serve and build a more prosperous Namibia. She implored party members to approach their responsibilities with seriousness, advocating for leadership that prioritizes service delivery to the population. She acknowledged the importance of recognizing both the party’s achievements and the lessons learned, emphasizing the expectation for decisive action and unwavering dedication from the party.
Shinduvi highlighted the party’s duty to strengthen the current government, deepen community engagements, and advance policies benefiting communities, especially the most vulnerable. She acknowledged the decline in support for Swapo, noting the reduction from 70 seats to 51 seats in recent elections and posed a reflective question to the leadership about this decline.
