NKURENKURU – President of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM):President of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), McHenry Venaani, criticized the ruling Swapo Party for neglecting the basic needs of Namibians, focusing instead on expensive entertainment. During a rally in Nkurenkuru, Venaani highlighted Swapo’s decision to spend nearly N$1 million on South African performers for their manifesto unveiling, neglecting essential services in various villages.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Venaani condemned Swapo for prioritizing political events over substantive governance issues during the PDM’s star rally held on Saturday. He pointed out the stark contrast between the government’s expenditure on entertainment and the dire necessities lacking in rural areas, such as adequate water supply and infrastructure.

“Imagine what that investment could have accomplished if it had been directed toward building infrastructure or improving education facilities,” Venaani stated, emphasizing the misallocation of resou
rces by the current administration. He criticized the government for treating governance as a trivial matter, likening it to a “mere cucashop,” and accused them of prioritizing political gain over the welfare of the citizens.

Venaani also spoke about the challenges faced by the elderly in rural areas, who endure long walks to fetch water, and the widespread unemployment crisis, particularly among the youth. He assured that the PDM is prepared to address these issues with a well-researched, comprehensive plan outlined in their manifesto, which he claimed is more than just a collection of promises.

The PDM leader called on the people of Kavango West to demand a government that reflects their will and stands ready to lead the charge towards a brighter future for all Namibians.
