Suswa, Kenya – Residents in the Suswa area of Narok South Sub County, recently affected by flash floods, received support from the county government in collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross. The aid included foodstuff, bedding, and medicine to assist the victims.
According to Kenya News Agency, Ms. Nancy Laboso, stated that the assistance followed an assessment that identified four submerged villages in need. The villages – Eluwai, Oloirowua, Seneto, and Oloropil – received blankets, maize flour, soap, sugar, mosquito nets, and canvas shoes. Families were advised to relocate temporarily to churches or schools on higher grounds to prevent further losses.
Beneficiary Saitoti Muntet expressed gratitude for the timely response and urged the government to continue supporting the victims who lack alternative survival means. In another part of the county, the Oloropil area in Narok North Sub County also experienced flood-related losses, with livestock being swept away by the waters. Resident Leshings Topoika reported losing 30 goats and three cows, while John Koilel’s farm and pit latrine were submerged.
The County Meteorological Department forecasted light rains for the week, with no significant flood risk anticipated. Narok residents were reminded to use the toll-free number 0800722984 provided by the county government for assistance in case of emergencies.
