PRETORIA – A multi-disciplinary team successfully arrested a 38-year-old man in Kameeldrift, east of Tshwane, on charges of murder and attempted murder.
According to South African Police Service, the suspect was apprehended last night in connection with a murder and attempted murder that occurred in Atteridgeville on Sunday, 12 November 2023.
Details of the Arrest and Investigation
A murder and an attempted murder involving a white Toyota Starlet were reported in Atteridgeville. Utilizing intelligence information, the team traced the vehicle and the suspect to Kameeldrift. A tactical operation led to the containment of the suspect’s vehicle and his subsequent arrest.
Evidence Recovered
The team, consisting of members from Tactical Operations Section (TOMS), SAPS MDOC CI CIT team, SAPS Gauteng Tactical Response Team, and other units, proceeded to search the suspect’s residence in Atteridgeville. They recovered two unlicensed firearms with ammunition, an assortment of .45 and 9mm ammunition, cellphones, and confiscated the suspect’s vehicle for further investigation.
Ongoing Investigations
The suspect, currently out on bail for multiple crimes, is being investigated for potential links to other violent crimes in the Tshwane area.
