Suspected business robber due to appear in Thembalethu court

A 39-year-old suspect arrested at Thembalethu for a business robbery is due to appear in court on Monday, 17 July 2023. He was arrested after police swiftly responded to an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Thembalethu on Thursday, 13 July 2023.

Investigation reveals that police were alerted about a group of armed men entering the business at Sandkraal Road, Thembalethu at about 18:00. Police responded and on arrival a shootout ensued when the suspects fled the scene on foot. One of the perpetrators was cornered inside the shop by police, and forced to the ground. An undisclosed amount of cash as well as an imitation firearm were seized.

His accomplices fled the scene on foot and the search for them continues.
