Ouagadougou: The National Association of Former Firefighters (ANASAP) organized a ceremony on Wednesday to present donations to the widows and orphans of military firefighters who died in the line of duty, noted the AIB.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, chaired by the commander of the National Fire Brigade (BNSP) and sponsored by the Minister of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, was an occasion for ANASAP to demonstrate its compassion and solidarity towards the families of their fallen comrades. The association gathered two tons of corn and pasta through the voluntary contributions of its members and the generosity of supporters to provide some relief to these families affected by the fight against terrorism.
Retired chief warrant officer and president of ANASAP, Arzouma Gouba, expressed a heartfelt message during the ceremony. “We elders would have liked to be with our young brothers at the front but physically, we can’t hold on anymore. We come with this donation to support t
hem and encourage them to continue the fight so that we can recover all our territory,” he stated. Gouba extended his gratitude to the commander of the BNSP, Colonel Daba Naon, and the godmother for their support and presence at the ceremony.
Sibiri Ouédraogo, the Director General of Family and Childhood, representing the Minister of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, conveyed the Minister’s commendations to ANASAP for their act of solidarity. Captain Gustave Bambara, Director of Social Action and Operational Injuries of the BNSP, praised ANASAP’s initiative, highlighting the importance of the solidarity shown to bereaved families.
Mrs. Kaboré née Ouédraogo Martine, representing the beneficiary families, expressed her gratitude to ANASAP for their support. Commander Jean-Pierre Kaboré, Vice-President of the Single Association of Veterans, Former Soldiers, Widows, Orphans and Victims of War of Burkina Faso, commended ANASAP’s initiative and encouraged other associations to emulate their efforts.
