Sugar Futures Surge on Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange

Zhengzhou: Sugar futures closed higher Thursday in daytime trading on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE). The most active sugar contract for September 2025 delivery gained 42 yuan (5.87 U.S. dollars) to close at 5,805 yuan per tonne.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the total trading volume for six listed sugar futures contracts on the ZCE was 209,745 lots with a turnover of 12.1 billion yuan. China, as a significant consumer and importer of sugar, initiated the listing of sugar futures on ZCE in January 2006. This move was aimed at helping sugar-related enterprises mitigate price risk effectively.
