Student Teachers From INFPE Schools Explore Historical Sites in Fada N’Gourma

Fada N'Gourma: Student teachers from the National Institute for Training of Education Personnel in the East (INFPE) embarked on a cultural journey to explore the historical sites of Fada N'Gourma as part of the Customs and Traditions Day celebrations. This initiative aimed to deepen their understanding of the local customs and traditions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was organized in conjunction with the Vivre au Village Association (VIVAVI) and included visits to several notable sites such as the mystical tree, Tandjaama site, De Gaulle's well, the Marian grotto, and the legendary baobab. The student teachers were introduced to the cultural significance of these locations, beginning with a discussion on the role of the calabash in the Gourmantch© community.

Amidou Djama Hubert Thiombiano, the regional director of INFPE in the East, explained that this tourist immersion aligns with the country's focus on National Heritage Month and the celebration of Customs and Traditions Day. He emphasized the importance of connecting theoretical knowledge with practical experiences, highlighting the role of culture and tradition in their educational curriculum. The initiative aims to enhance the student teachers' appreciation of Gulmu's history and values, which they can then pass on to their future students.

Hermann Kabor©, a student teacher, expressed that the sites visited were informative, enhancing their understanding of local history. He noted that the knowledge gained is crucial for imparting cultural education to learners, especially since not all student teachers hail from the Eastern region.
