Stock theft suspects arrested in Pixley Ka Seme District

On Tuesday, 13 June 2023 the Griekwastad SAPS Visible Policing unit received information of stock theft where 13 cows, valued at R120 000-00, was allegedly stolen from a farm near Griekwastad. The cows were stolen during March 2023 and police managed to recover 9 cows in the possession of the male suspect (41) on a farm about 25km outside Griekwastad, after the owners positively identified the cattle.

In a separate incident the police in Prieska also operationalised information and arrested an adult male at his house with alleged stolen livestock products worth about R7000-00.

Further investigation also led the police to animal skins, meat, knives and ropes.

Both suspect will be appearing in their respective courts soon.

The Pixley Ka Seme District Commissioner, Maj Gen Nomana Mkutushe indicated that the police in the district will continue to close the net on stock theft and will squeeze the space for thieves to operate, she also warned the community that buying stolen goods or being in possession of suspected stolen items is a crime and you will be arrested.
