Windhoek: Voters in the Moses ||Garo«b Constituency on Wednesday expressed satisfaction with the voting process, saying polling stations opened on time and operations have been running smoothly since 07h00.
According to Namibia Press Agency, when Nampa visited several polling venues early Wednesday, citizens were already queuing before sunrise, with some saying they spent the night near the polling stations to ensure they were among the first to vote. One eager voter, Rubeni Matheus at the Okapale Goreangab polling station told Nampa he arrived at 02h00. 'I slept here just to make sure I am the first in line when voting starts. I am happy I managed to cast my vote early,' he said.
At the Eehambo dha Nehale Hall polling station, presiding officer Helena Helao confirmed that operations commenced without delays. 'We started the voting process at 07h00 and so far, everything has been going well. Some people began arriving as early as 03h00 to secure their place in the queue,' said Helao. She added that the station had not encountered any challenges by mid-morning and expected voting to continue smoothly throughout the day.
Meanwhile, outgoing councillor of the Moses ||Garo«b Constituency, Stefanus Ndengu, cast his vote at the Eehambo dha Nehale Hall. Speaking shortly after voting, Ndengu encouraged residents to make use of the opportunity. 'It does not take long. The queues are fast, so I am urging all of you to go vote,' he said.
Polling stations for the Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections across the country opened at 07h00 and are scheduled to close at 21h00. The Khomas Region, where voter activity remained steady in the morning hours, has 11 constituencies participating in the Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections. Voters who spoke to Nampa echoed a shared sentiment of confidence and optimism, saying they hoped their votes would contribute to improved development and better services in the constituency.
