ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian Ministry of Peace today emphasized the significance of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s recent dialogues with religious leaders and various societal groups in fostering sustainable peace across the nation. State Minister Kairedin Tezera, in a statement to the Ethiopian News Agency, underscored the constructive outcomes of these forums in achieving consensus on resolving Ethiopia’s challenges.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the discussions facilitated by Prime Minister Abiy have been instrumental in deepening understanding between the government and its citizens regarding national responsibilities and the pursuit of long-term solutions. These forums allowed the government to articulate its ongoing efforts to fulfill its promises while absorbing public feedback and suggestions.

Tezera expressed his belief that these interactions have nurtured a sense of ownership among Ethiopians regarding the government’s initiatives, marking a significant step towards establishing a participatory governance culture. The State Minister also noted the importance of the increasing willingness among citizens to openly share their opinions, viewing it as vital for incorporating diverse perspectives into policy-making processes.

The discussions, as highlighted by Tezera, are deemed invaluable for laying the groundwork for peace and fostering national consensus. He attributed the success of these engagements to the government’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities for all societal factions, which has, in turn, strengthened the bond between the government and the populace.

Tezera further acknowledged the unique yet complementary roles of governmental bodies and religious institutions in nation-building, asserting that their collaborative efforts are crucial for securing lasting peace.
