OUAGADOUGOU: The Burkina Faso Stallions are in high spirits ahead of their match this Monday against the 'Lycaons (Os Djurtus)' of Guinea Bissau, counting for the 6th day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Group A, we learned from the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the FBF's communications department reported that Stallions coach Brama Traor© held a press conference on Sunday and stated that he is confident for the match. "This match will be different from the one against Djibouti. The national team is full of confidence," national coach Brama Traor© suggested at a pre-match press conference. "The desire to win is there because we have to take points to stay close to Egypt."
The Stallions were unable to train the day before the match, and Burkinabe coach Brama Traor© admitted that "this will not impact the Stallions' desire to get the 3 points this Monday." He said he expects "a difficult match because the Bissau-Guineans are playing at home and they will be looking to win to erase their defeat against Sierra Leone. We are aware of that, but they will find us in their way. It is a decisive match for us."
Coach Brama reassured that the team's spirit is very good. "They are experienced and seasoned players, and we know this match is decisive," he said. There are no injuries in the squad. However, for this match, they will still be without Iri© Bi Cyriaque Kalou and Ars¨ne Kouassi due to administrative issues.
Rwandan referees and a Cape Verdean match commissioner will officiate the match. Burkina Faso is second in Group A with 8 points (+5) behind Egypt (13 points +11). Sierra Leone is third with 8 points +1, followed by Guinea Bissau (6 points -1), Ethiopia (3 points -5), and Djibouti (1 point -11).
