OTJIWARONGO — The Swapo Party Women’s Council (SPWC) is set to publish a book early in 2025 detailing the pivotal role of women in Namibia’s liberation struggle and their ongoing contributions to national development. The announcement was made at a meeting in Otjiwarongo where SPWC leaders reviewed a draft of the upcoming publication.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the secretary of the SPWC, the book, titled ‘The 54 Years Existence of the Swapo Party Women’s Council – the Toil of Women, Comforts the Nation,’ will include diverse sources such as letters, speeches, and photographs from the Swapo Party archives. Oral histories from founding members and past leaders have also been incorporated into the narrative. Kahungu revealed the book’s planned launch at the start of 2025 in Windhoek, amidst her candidacy announcement for the upcoming Swapo Party electoral college in Windhoek. The meeting was attended by notable figures including former SPWC secretary Eunice Iipinge and the former Secretary General of the Council of Churches in Namibia, Maria Kapere.
