Cunene: Sports journalist Avelino Kalungulungo on Friday, in the southern Province of Cunene, suggested that the National Football Team must invest in adequate preparation to win the games against Libya and Eswatini, part of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. According to Angola Press News Agency, the match against Libya is scheduled for September 4th at 5:00 p.m., while the match against Eswatini is set for September 9th at 8:00 p.m., both taking place at the 11 de Novembro Stadium in Luanda, the country's capital. Speaking to ANGOP, Avelino Kalungulungo expressed confidence that the athletes called up by coach Pedro Gonçalves have the capability to triumph over both teams at home, while keeping alive their hopes of participating in the World Cup. However, Kalungulungo emphasized that achieving victories will require proper preparation, particularly in enhancing tactics and organizing the team's defence, midfield, and attack. He noted that although Angola currently has seven points, the players must re main cognizant of the challenges ahead. Group D of the 2026 World Cup qualifier, set to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, also includes matches between Cameroon and Eswatini, as well as Mauritius versus Cabo Verde. The ranking is currently led by Cabo Verde with 13 points, followed by Cameroon in second place with 12 points, Libya in third with 8 points, Angola in fourth with 7 points, Mauritius in fifth with 5 points, and Eswatini in last place with 2 points.
