SportPesa National Sevens Circuit Rolls Into Kisumu For Dala 7s

Seoul: The SportPesa National Sevens Circuit heads to Mamboleo Stadium on 1st and 2nd August for the second leg of the season, the Dala 7s, with all the pools now confirmed.

According to Kenya News Agency, a total of 40 teams have been confirmed for the two-day event, including the hosts Kisumu RFC, defending champions and early pacesetters KCB Rugby Club, and surprise newcomers Kiambaa Ladies. KCB Rugby, who secured a 19-12 victory over Kabras Sugar in Prinsloo, have been drawn in Pool A alongside MMUST, Impala RFC, and Zetech Oaks, who earned their spot after winning Division 2 in Nakuru.

Mombasa Sports Club Rugby is set to begin their season against Kenya Harlequin, Blak Blad, and Menengai Oilers in Pool B. Pool C will see action from Nondescripts RFC, Daystar Falcons, Mwamba RFC, and hosts Kisumu RFC. Meanwhile, Pool D features a challenging lineup with Kabras RFC, Nakuru RFC, Strathmore Leos, and Embu RFC contending for honors.

This event follows the circuit's opening leg, which has KCB leading by three points in the season standings, with Kabras Sugar RFC and Nondescripts RFC in second and third positions, respectively. On the women's side, Kiambaa Ladies, who were finalists in Prinsloo, aim to challenge Kenya Harlequin in Group B, along with Kisumu Dolphins and Kisii Polytechnic.

The women's Pool A includes log leaders and overall series-defending champions Mwamba RFC and Impala, alongside Pioneer Ladies and Mwira Eagles. "Nakuru gave us a taste of just how competitive this season is going to be, and Dala 7s should raise the bar even higher. Kisumu always brings incredible energy, and pairing that with the quality we saw at Prinsloo, we're expecting a cracker of a weekend at Mamboleo," said Willis Ojwang, SportPesa Head of Public Relations.
