Sport, Arts and Culture welcomes the President announcement of Minister Zizi Kodwa as its New Executive Authority

The announcement was made last night by President Cyril Ramaphosa as he introduced changes to his current Cabinet.

Minister Zizi Kodwa takes over from former Minister Nathi Mthethwa with immediate effect. The Department is pleased with continuity in leadership through Deputy Minister, Nocawe Mafu whose experience with the mandate and programmes of the Department will be invaluable support to the Minister.

The Department looks forward to Minister Kodwa’s dedication in service delivery to people of South Africa, henceforth, to be primarily directed at ensuring sustainable growth of the sporting and creative sector as well as promotion and preservation of South Africa’s Cultural and Heritage fortune.

Minister Kodwa previously served as Deputy Minister of State Security from 30 May 2019 to 6 March 2023. He is also a member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress (ANC).

The Department would like to thank Mr Nathi Mthethwa on his outstanding leadership in driving the programmes of the department forward. We wish him well on his future endeavours.

Minister Kodwa joins the department in a cusp of hosting major international sporting events and arts and Culture programmes like the 2023 Netball World Cup, BRICS Games, and Africa Month, respectively.
