Special Delegation of Ouindigui Delivers Support to VDP and Widows of Fallen Soldiers

Ouagadougou: The special delegation of the commune of Ouindigui delivers food to the VDP and widows of fallen VDP soldiers: The special delegation of the commune of Ouindigui, in the province of Loroum, handed over, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 in Titao, food and fuel to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and widows of the VDP of the commune, who fell on the field of honor.

According to Burkina Information Agency, in the dynamic of reconquering the national territory, the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, called on every citizen and every institutional entity to play its part. In keeping with this vision of the highest authorities in the country, the special delegation of the commune of Ouindigui has decided to provide support to the fighting forces on the ground, in particular the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP).

It was at their headquarters in Titao that the President of the special delegation of the commune of Ouindigui, Souleymane Gandema, accompanied by his collaborators, handed over, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 in Titao, 25 bags of rice of 25 kg and fuel vouchers worth 140,000 CFA francs. In addition to this donation from the town hall, the PDS gave the VDP a sum of 126,250 F resulting from a voluntary contribution from the residents of the commune of Ouindigui in Ouahigouya.

Fourteen widows of VDP members who fell in the theater of operations also received food kits consisting of beans, rice, spaghetti, and salt, provided by the National Committee for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR). For Souleymane Gandema, these various gestures symbolize the commitment of the special delegation and the civil society to stand alongside the fighting forces.

"Today, wherever you are, you must show solidarity with our defense and security forces who are fighting to reclaim the national territory. Whatever contribution you make helps to boost morale and further galvanize those who are fighting day and night for the return of peace to Burkina Faso," he reminded them. The head of the VDP in the commune of Ouindigui, Daouda Niampa, is grateful for this solidarity and for him, "These actions in these crucial times further galvanize the morale of the troops on the battlefield."

In 2025, the special delegation of the municipality also provided food and logistics to the VDP.
