South-West Educators Raise Over 5 Million CFA Francs for Peace Efforts


SOUTH-WEST REGION — In a notable display of solidarity, examiners from the South-West region involved in the 2024 Certificate of Primary Studies (CEP) have collectively contributed 5,272,500 CFA francs to the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP), aiding in the national effort against terrorism.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education, this initiative emerged during a preparatory meeting in Diébougou for the CEP and entry into 6th grade exams. More than 2,000 teachers, supervisors, and administrative staff decided to donate a portion of their allowances to support the government’s Transition initiatives. The funds, exceeding the initial target of 3 million CFA francs, were formally handed over to Boureima Savadogo, the Governor of the South-West, in a ceremony attended by members of the defense and security forces on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.



Mr. Somda highlighted the enthusiastic participation of the contributors, noting that some individuals donated more than the requested amounts, categorized at 2,000 CFA for category B agents and 5,000 CFA for category A agents. Governor Savadogo expressed deep gratitude for the significant contribution and urged other groups in the region to emulate this act of patriotism and commitment to the country’s stability.
