South Korean Minister of Veterans Affairs Visits Ethiopia to Honor Korean War Veterans

ADDIS ABABA — Kang Jung-ai, the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea, visited Ethiopia as part of a four-day trip to strengthen ties and express gratitude for Ethiopia's participation in the Korean War. During her visit, Kang met with Ethiopian Defense Minister Aisha Mohammed, where she emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two nations, particularly in supporting surviving Ethiopian veterans and providing scholarships for their descendants.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Kang also inspected ongoing maintenance projects at the Korean War Memorial in Ethiopia and reviewed housing improvement initiatives aimed at supporting veterans. Additionally, she visited the Veteran's Village to personally encourage Korean War veterans and their families. Ethiopia was one of the 22 countries that contributed troops or medical support to South Korea under the U.N. flag during and after the Korean War, which lasted from 1950 to 1953.
