South African U15 National team report for training camp

The South African U15 National Team has reported for a training camp scheduled from 1 -9 October 2023 at the SAFA Technical Centre.

45 players are in camp and will train throughout the week, with three friendly matches scheduled for player evaluation ahead of another scheduled camp in November 2023.

This pool of players is a group which was identified during the SAFA/FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) Tournament and the National Schools Championships in July 2023. These players will be developed, trained and monitored over the next two years, and will become the next generation of the U17 National Team in 2025, for COSAFA and CAF AFCON qualifiers.

Coach Vela Khumalo has now been called up to the team as the Head Coach for the U15 National Team, after Godfrey Sapula was replaced due to unforeseen circumstances. Khumalo has a lot of experience with this age group and has been part of the U17 and U20 National team set up for the past four years. Coaches Thabo Mngomeni, Smuts Ndlovu and Lazarus Kgosana w
ill be the three assistants, while Shuaib Walters will deal with the goalkeeping department. Kelebogile Mpholo joins the Technical Team as Physical Trainer. Doctor Singe Chonco will oversee all medical aspects of the camp, with the assistance of Physiotherapist Felix Nkuna.
