Huambo: South African entrepreneurs have commenced a significant visit to Huambo province to explore investment opportunities in agriculture, industry, tourism, renewable energy, infrastructure, and mining sectors. This visit is part of the 1st Cape Town-Angola Business Excursion, which aims to strengthen economic cooperation between South Africa and Angola. According to Angola Press News Agency, the delegation, comprising 80 members, is focused on identifying potential areas for investment that could benefit both countries. Huambo Province Governor Pereira Alfredo reassured the entrepreneurs of the local government's commitment to facilitating foreign private investment by establishing the necessary institutional and legal frameworks. He emphasized the logistical facilities available, such as road transportation through Namibia, to support South African investors. Governor Alfredo highlighted the province's tax incentives, the creation of a unique entity for businesses, and the region's political stability as attractive factors for investors. These elements, he noted, position Huambo as a strategic location for producing and exporting goods through the Benguela and Porto do Lobito corridors. Additionally, Angola's Consul General in Cape Town, Elsa Caposo Vicente, emphasized the diplomatic responsibility of fostering economic growth through collaboration and investment. She stressed the importance of creating sustainable partnerships to promote mutual development between the two nations. In a related statement, Babalwa Lobishi, the mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay in Cape Town, lauded Huambo's warm reception and expressed interest in formalizing cooperation agreements with the province. Lobishi highlighted the potential for replicating successful South African partnerships in Angola to create tangible benefits for local communities. The South African delegation's mission, set to conclude on August 3, will include technical visits to various agricultural, industrial, and infrastructure projects in Huambo.
