Parts of Gauteng Province and North West Province in South Africa were heavily affected by floods on Saturday the 10 and the 11 of December 2022, washing away people’s livelihoods. Joint rapid assessments identified that more than 40,000 people have been affected.
DG ECHO has secured a total of EUR 100,000 for the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) to respond to the immediate humanitarian needs of approximately 1,300 of the most vulnerable households (6,500 people) affected by the floods through the provision of a multipurpose cash grant, WASH, and health services in the next 3 months.
