The new head doctor of the Tougan health district, Dr Jérôme Nikiema, was officially installed on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, in his position, by the Secretary General (SG) of the Sourou province, Julien Zanzé.

The new Chief Medical Officer of the Tougan health district (MCD), Dr Jérôme Nikiema officially took office on Wednesday September 20, 2023 in Tougan, in the Boucle du Mouhoun region.

During this ceremony, the district staff spokesperson, Aboubakar Ouattara thanked the outgoing chief medical officer, Dr Roland Sanou for the work done during his stay in the town of Tougan.

For him, Dr. Sanou was a unifier, a leader full of humanism whose dynamism, collaboration and rigor in his work made it possible to significantly improve the health care indicators of the population of Sourou.

According to him, his approach also made it possible to raise the district to 3rd national rank in the fight against malaria.

As a sign of recognition, he on behalf of the staff thanked Dr Sanou with a nice leather bag for his studies.

Mr. Ouattara also brought to the attention of the incoming MCD the difficulties which beset the district following the phenomenon of insecurity which is affecting the province.

He assured Dr Nikièma of the availability of staff to collaborate to overcome these difficulties.

Dr Sanou thanked the administrative authorities and district partners for their support and urged staff to maintain the same momentum of collaboration with his successor to achieve the expected positive results.

The new MCD Dr Jérôme Nikièma says he understands the scale of the task that awaits him and is committed to sparing no effort to deserve the trust placed in his modest person.

He replaces Dr Sanou Roland, admitted for studies who spent 7 years 8 months in the district.

He requested support from the authorities, partners and district health staff to meet the challenges of the health district of the city of Tougan.

As a reminder, Dr Jérôme Nikiema was appointed on Tuesday August 1, 2023, by decree as the new MCD of Tougan.
