Sourou: The Imam of the Grand Mosque, El Hadj Mohamed Traoré, expressed a heartfelt wish for the complete restoration of peace in Burkina Faso during the Tabaski prayer on Friday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration of Tabaski, also known as Eid al-Adha, took place across the globe on Friday, June 6, 2025. In the town of Tougan, located in the Sourou province, Muslim worshippers gathered at the city’s great mosque for the important prayer event.
Imam El Hadj Mohamed Traoré emphasized the significance of Tabaski as a major celebration for all Muslim faithful and took the opportunity to voice a collective desire for peace and security in both the Sourou province and the entire nation of Burkina Faso. “Whenever we pray, we wish for peace. Today, we also wish for peace and security for our province and the country in general. Our fighting forces are doing remarkable work on the ground. May God protect them,” he stated.
Beyond the call for peace, Imam Traoré advocated for social cohesion an
d harmonious living among the people in Sourou and throughout the country.
