Sourou Residents Contribute to National Development Efforts

Sourou: The people of the commune of Toeni are contributing to the reconquest of the territory and to national development. The people of the commune of Toeni, in the province of Sourou, made a contribution on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Tougan, to the effort to reclaim the territory and to national development.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was led by the canton chief of Louta and the chiefs of various villages of the commune. They handed over a donation consisting of two tons of cement intended for the Faso Mªbo National Agency, in addition to 30 cartons of macaroni and clothing. These items are meant for the benefit of the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) and internally displaced persons (IDP).

Wona Dembele, the chief of the village of Dounkoun and representative of the canton chief of Louta, remarked that "Faso Mªbo constitutes for us a framework of popular solidarity and a melting pot of national consciousness." He emphasized that this act is a demonstration of their faith and commitment to the authorities, particularly President Traore and his team, whom they see as guarantors of their freedom, independence, and sovereignty in the ongoing recovery process.

Upon receiving the donation, Ouigou Tiendrebeogo, the prefect and president of the special delegation (PDS) of Tougan, expressed his appreciation for this patriotic and civic gesture. He congratulated the donors and urged other stakeholders to emulate this example in order to support the fighting forces and contribute to the development of the Sourou province.

The 30 cartons of macaroni were distributed into three lots: 10 cartons for the VDP of Tougan, 10 cartons for those of Toeni, and 10 cartons for the PDI of Toeni residing in Tougan.
