Sourou: The Patriotic Movement for the Development of Sourou (MPDS) organized a communal breaking of the fast in Tougan on Sunday, March 15, 2026, bringing together Muslims and Christians, in the presence of local administrative authorities. The ceremony was presided over by the High Commissioner of Sourou Province, Desire Badolo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the coordinator of the Patriotic Movement for the Development of Sourou (MPDS), Issouf Djibo, stated that the objective of the activity is to consolidate social cohesion and inter-religious living together in the province of Sourou. Djibo emphasized the importance of showing that religion should not be a barrier and highlighted the need for unity and cooperation to achieve peace and social harmony.
Representatives of various religious faiths pointed out that the simultaneous occurrence of Christian Lent and the Muslim fast is a sign of divine love. They expressed that human beings should emulate this love by treating one another without discrimination. The religious representatives praised the MPDS for their efforts in fostering this interfaith initiative.
The High Commissioner of Sourou Province, Desire Badolo, also praised the initiative taken by the MPDS. He urged participants to engage in behaviors that promote peace and social cohesion. Mr. Badolo further expressed his commitment to supporting activities that contribute to the strengthening of peace and social unity within the province.
