Sourou: The Boussougoula association organized a sanitation day on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the pediatrics of the Medical Center with surgical unit (CMA) in Tougan, in order to prevent malaria at the beginning of this rainy season. Armed with machetes and various cleaning equipment, the members of the association gave a new look to the pediatrics department of the CMA on the morning of Saturday, May 2, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the association's president, Boubacar Banazaro, stated that the activity aims to provide a healthy working environment for CMA staff, who do remarkable work on a daily basis. "Given the onset of the rainy season and the number of children with malaria recorded, we have estimated that improving the sanitation of pediatrics will help to significantly reduce cases," he said.
Bernard Zongo, the CMA's health promotion and hygiene officer, representing the district medical officer (DMO), welcomed the association's initiative. "Care begins with cleanliness. Hygiene and cleanliness promote quality care," he said. Mr. Zongo added that the Boussougoula association is not new to this, recalling that it has already carried out similar operations in other health centers in the city.
