Soum Communes Raise Over 3.8 Million FCFA for ‘D?m? Sira’ Initiative

Ouagadougou: The nine communes mobilize more than 3.8 million FCFA in cash and several in-kind donations to support the 'D?m? Sira' initiative. The nine communes of Soum Province have shown strong support for the solidarity call by His Excellency the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore. This support is channeled through the 'D?m? Sira' initiative, which aims to bolster national efforts through significant financial and material contributions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner of Soum Province, Wend-Nere Wilfried Tougma, on Monday received contributions from the Prefect, President of the Special Delegation of the Djibo Commune, Hubert Drabo. This included an envelope containing 3,808,975 CFA francs in cash and various in-kind donations, representing the collective contribution of the province's nine communes.

The ceremony, which marked the handover of these contributions, was attended by representatives from the communes, Defense and Security Forces, as well as traditional, religious, women, and youth leaders. During the event, Hubert Drabo, representing all the presidents of the special delegations of the nine municipalities, extended New Year's greetings to the High Commissioner. He emphasized the importance of the "D?m? Sira" campaign, highlighting the High Commissioner's directive to take the initiative seriously.

Drabo noted that the "D?m? Sira" initiative embodies a strong message of solidarity, social cohesion, and mutual support, which are traditional values that must be revitalized within communities by administrative authorities.

The provincial authority, upon receiving the donations, praised the patriotic spirit and solidarity exhibited by the municipalities of Soum. He assured the contributors that their donations would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities. He also expressed hope that the spirit of solidarity and unity would continue to guide the communities' daily actions.

Additionally, the High Commissioner expressed optimism that a supply convoy would soon reach the city of Djibo to assist populations facing ongoing challenges.
