The Executive Director of the Russian Public Diplomacy Center, Natalia Krasovskaya, announced Tuesday in Ouagadougou the opening of a Russian cultural center in Burkina Faso before the end of 2023.

‘We are really delighted to be in Burkina Faso, it is already the second time and we arrived with concrete actions and we are ready to continue the development of cooperation between our two countries,’ declared the Executive Director from the Center for Public Diplomacy, Natalia Krasovskaya.

The Executive Director of the Center for Public Diplomacy of Russia, Natalia Krasovskaya, spoke after leaving an audience with the President of the Legislative Assembly of the Transition of Burkina Faso, Dr. Ousmane Bougouma.

Natalia Krasovskaya indicated that the hearing focused mainly on questions of strengthening cooperation, particularly in the fields of culture and education.

She also added that actions are being taken to open a Russian cultural center in Burkina Faso before the end of the year.

According to Nata
lia Krasovskaya, the current actions are the results of the Russia-Africa summit which took place in Saint Petersburg and during which the opening of the Russian embassy in Burkina Faso was discussed.

‘Burkina Faso is free to choose its partners so we have also chosen to make an opening towards Russia,’ informed for his part the vice-president of the commission of the Russia-Burkina friendship group, Thomas Traoré.

According to Mr. Traoré, Burkina Faso needs a ‘reliable’ partner to help it meet the security challenges it is facing.

According to him, there was also talk of exchanges of experiences between the two parliaments.
